Ry-Run

Kase and I are very blessed in that we both come from wonderful families. Over the years each of our families have experienced different changes (added sisters-in-law, babies, so on) that have made them even better. Kase's side of the family is about to have another change.

You see, Kase is one of four boys. They are all wonderful boys. Tommy, Kase's older brother, is a good leader and loves the outdoors. He'll ask you all kinds of questions and listen when you talk. He can convince you to do lots of things and smiles with a mischievous boyish grin.

Kase, is the second oldest. Obviously I think he is pretty awesome. He is kind and sweet. He is up for just about anything and can talk to just about anyone. He is my best friend and always opens doors for me. He is a wonderful father and husband. I don't want to dwell too much on how awesome he is because, you see, this post isn't about him.

Scott, is the third boy. He is the tallest and has great taste in clothes. He gives great hugs and always has a smile on his face. He has a great sense of humor and makes yummy queso dip.

Now we come to the youngest, Ryan. Ryan is known as the child-whisperer. He is so good with his nieces and nephew. They all love their Ry-run, as they call him, and flock to him at family gatherings. He is funny and sweet. He always notices when you get a haircut or when your baby girl looks particularly cute. He wears really awesome shorts. He is quiet but is also very funny and easy to talk to. He also always helps out when he comes over, putting up dishes or letting out our dog. How great is that?

This post is about Ryan.

You see, on Monday Ryan is leaving to go on a 2 year mission for our church. He will serve and share the gospel with people in Las Vegas. We will all miss him very much. While he is gone we will all grow older. Nieces and nephews will be older when he returns, perhaps he will even have a new niece or nephew or two. Ryan will grow older as well. He will return home a different person from when he left. An even better person. He will be blessed for his service in ways that he cannot imagine.

He will also be a missionary who will bless others for generations to come. Just as a missionary blessed my parents by bringing them the gospel which in turn blessed me with the gospel in my life. Because of this, I met Kase and married into a wonderful family. With wonderful brothers-in-law. Especially Ryan.

We will all miss Ryan while he is gone. We will write him and wait for his phone calls and we will be at the airport in 2 years to welcome him home. We are all proud of him. And when he returns, he will once again be our Ry-run.
