My Secret Love

There are lots of things that I love: Kase, My family, My dog, Chocolate, the smell of clean laundry, etc. They are things that most people understand and probably like as well. But there is one thing I love that, well, not everyone understands. That is my car, also known as Jeep (no fancy nickname here. Sorry):

keep in mind this is not the most flattering picture of Jeep. Ok maybe it is.

Jeep is an older car. It has an exhaust leak and smells kindof funny. Jeep is kindof loud and when I drive Jeep on the interstate I can barely hear anything. It rattles and bangs and has an oil leak. Yes another one...... Somewhere. This causes jeep to not be allowed to park in our garage for fear of ruining the floor. Jeep's paint is peeling off. The headlights are dim so I can't really see when another car with brighter headlights is coming in my direction because they blind me. There is a cigarette burn in Jeep's back seat from the previous owner and everytime I have a child in my car I get questioned about this. There is a dent in the side from when Jeep ran into the yellow pole at the institute building, but really who doesn't have one of those dents? The driver's seat cussion isn't so cushy anymore. The antena is stuck in the up position and it doesnt' pick up the radio very well. Jeep's cd player overheats so I have to give it a break on road trips. The steering wheel is crooked.

And well.... I love Jeep.

Jeep is economical. Even though it breaks down every few months, and I cry, and it is kindof a pain, it's still cheaper than a car payment.

Jeep is helpful in tough situations. Once, a school bus broke down in front of me blocking the whole road. Then the car behind me ran into the ditch blocking the road behind me. I got to use Jeep's 4 wheel drive to get around them and make it safely to work!

Jeep keeps me comfy. The engine heats up really fast so I have instant heat in the winter. Also, the driver's seat is worn out BUT it is practically molded to me. It's like those fancy memory foam mattresses that they advertise that mold to your body. Yup. It's a fancy memory seat. Courtesy of Jeep.

Jeep is worry(ish) free. I don't have to worry about anyone scratching Jeep when I park in a scary lot for work. The scratch would just blend in.

Jeep is thoughtful and considerate. Sometimes, when I am at a red light, one of those people with the really loud stereo pulls up beside me and they think they are going to make me listen to their aweful music (you know who I am talking about). Well, the joke is on them because Jeep masks the noise and I don't hear a thing! Ha!

Jeep is a time saver (if you don't include the time spent at the car repair shop). It practically changes it's own oil. (Atleast that is what I tell myself. Dad, I know, I am going to get the oil changed. Don't worry. I would never let down Jeep (or you.))

So I love Jeep. Jeep gets me where I need to go. People keep telling me that it is time for a new car. But I don't want to think about it. Well, I do actually like thinking about it because new cars are fun. However, the car payment, is not so fun. But I am still not getting rid of Jeep. Afterall, Jeep is my friend. We're pretty tight. Hopefully, we still have plenty of time/drives to spend together.

P.S. Currently Jeep is an only car. (like an only child except not as spoiled). We are thinking about getting Jeep a brother or a sister car. (NOT A REPLACEMENT) Any suggestions? We have been eyeballing the Saturn Vue, but well.... we're not sure.

I love it! How could anyone not love Jeep after reading that?

We had a Jeep years ago and sold it when the gas prices first started skyrocketing. We both loved it but especially Scott. He still cries himself to sleep at night because he misses it.

Jeeps are the best! We ran ours till it died (had an electrical problem - nobody could fix it, sigh.) Will definately be getting another one down the road - the 4wheel drive is WONDERFUL while living in Idaho and Colorado! Plus we got our high centered while going camping, taken it down many trails! Sigh...your blog makes me miss one of the first true loves of my life...
