Pumpkin Patch

We went to the Oakes Farm Pumpkin Patch this year. We usually go to a different in Powell but it was closed due to bad crops. We had a lot of fun though. Eliza loved riding the 4 wheel thing, bouncing on the jumping pillow, and having a picnic for lunch. We had a great time.  

Caroline is 9 months

9 Months is a special milestone to me because she has been alive in the world as long as she was growing in the womb. She is a special girl. At 9 months she:
- makes lots of noises.
- is called Princess Pea at daycare because she is such a happy baby, but when something is wrong she lets you know very loudly.
- has 2 teeth: her two bottom center teeth.
- is starting to get on all fours and rock.
- is starting to pull up on things.
- loves her sister so much.
- sometimes grabs a hold of your shirt if she doesn't want you to hand her off to someone else.
- 19 lbs 3 oz
- 27 3/4 inches
- Is so much fun.

We love her.

Caroline is 8 months (belated post)

It baffles me how much a little baby changes in 1 year. 1 year! I mean, that is not very long and they change SO much. In four short months this girl will be 1 year old, and she will be so different by then. I can't even picture her every walking or talking. But I know we will adore whatever little person she grows into.

At 8 months:
- C still doesn't have any teeth. However, I see the two bottom center teeth just under the gums. My heart hurts a little to know that her gummy smile is about to disappear. But her adorable little teeth will be cute too. I'm not going to let her chew on my fingers anymore though.
-I have no idea how much she weighs but she has the roundest cheeks and biggest thighs ever. The more to squeeze I say. She is adorable and delish.
- She likes to snuggle. In the mornings I go get her and bring her into our room. She will just lay in our bed and snuggle with us. She will put her face on our faces and hold our hands. She is precious.
-She is not mobile. But she does have a wide range of reach. She stretches and balances and wiggles and turns. Her most motivating items to reach for are cell phones and remote controls. I guess she wonders what all the excitment is.
- The Carebear, or Bear, (as we sometimes call her) goes to bed around 8. Our bedtime routine is to get cleaned up, get on jammies, read scriptures, read a book, say prayers, and then Eliza, Caroline, and Mommy/Daddy snuggle in Eliza's bed telling stories. Carebear usually passes out in the middle of "goldilocks and the 3 bears." Lately this week, she has been sleeping until midnight or 1 a.m. waking up for a little bit and then going back to sleep till morning. She is getting much more solid sleep.
- She is wearing size 3 diapers and still squeezing into 6/9 month clothes. I need to get out the clothes I have packed away and see what she needs in the way of clothing. Since the girls are off season from each other, it has been a little tricky to figure it all out.
- She still loves bathtime and water in general.
- She is eating 2nd foods. Her daddy writes funny things on her babyfood jars every morning for school. Such as "How do you like 'dem apples" (for applesauce) or "May I peas have some more" for peas. Her teachers either like us or think we're crazy... or both.
- We tried to give her some little puffs to eat but it didn't go well. She just kept spitting them out and didn't seem very interested in them. So we will try again later.
-  She is pretty friendly to everyone but I have noticed she is starting to prefer me sometimes mostly when she is tired. She is so different from Eliza who at this age was already so attached to me that noone else could hold her.
- She and Eliza still like each other. They are so different and opposite I am sure we will be in for some big arguments later. But I hope that they will always love each other and be best friends.
- She just has the sweetest disposition. Everyone that meets her comments that she is just so sweet. We adore her.

Caroline: 7 months on the 7th

On August 7th, Caroline turned 7 months.

It seems like time is flying quicker everyday. Even though time seems to be going quicker, Caroline seems so much younger at 7 months than Eliza did at 7 months. She seems content with being a baby, and I am ok with that. She is still very very sweet, with a tiny bit of drama thrown in. She is happy all the time except when super tired/hungry. Even then, I can forget to feed her for an hour or so after her feeding time (this only happens rarely) and she doesn't object. When she is very upset over something, I can usually still get a little smile out of her. She is a sweet girl.

At 7 months Caroline:
- still does not have any teeth (Eliza had 3 or 4 by now) and we are enjoying her gummy smile.
- wears 6-9 month clothes and size 3 diapers.
- drinks 5 oz bottles every 3 hours and nurses when with me. She has started wiggling A LOT while eating and it makes it hard to feed her.
- eats baby food and is about to switch to the 2nd foods baby food.
- still has a lot of fluffy hair that won't stay down (thanks double cow-licks). It can go into a little top ponytail so that is nice.
- loves soft blankets and toys.
- loves her sister so much and likes to watch her dance and play. Eliza will sit with Caroline and show her toys. Caroline just watches everything she does. Eliza will tell her that she loves her so much and pat her back gently. They are good together.
- LOVES bathtime and water in general.
- does not sleep through the night most nights.
- still a snuggler.
- is sitting up really well now but still hates tummy time. She does roll over to her back well though. She doesn't really like to stand much but I think she just enjoys being held.
- is still just uber sweet. When I think of her, I just think of sweetness. Eliza is sweet as well, but it's a different sweetness.

I absolutely love having my two girls. It is so fun to see how different they are. I think if Caroline had been a boy, I would have thought that most of the differences between them was because of that. So it is fun to see how different my two girls are. They are both our sweet treasures and I love them so much. I love watching them grow together. I wouldn't trade being their mommy for anything in the world.
